INTRODUCTION

The term "Marketing" often strikes fear and trembling in the heart of many professionals! After years of coaching both new and seasoned professionals, I have concluded that marketing is simply a synonym for "establishing new relationships within the context of business". Marketing can result in solid relationships that last long after any kind of business transaction takes place -- or even if it doesn't! This booklet pulls together the best ideas I have learned from others and from personal experience over the past several years, leading me to conclude that contemporary Marketing can be as easy as 1, 2, 3!

Step #1 - Don't be a secret! You may already know the old marketing adage "It's not what you know, but who you know that counts." A more appropriate marketing mantra for the 21st Century would be "It doesn't matter who you know; what truly matters is who knows about you!" In short, don’t be a secret! Make it effortless for others to find out about you, and about the benefits of doing business with you! Utilize technology to establish ongoing systems for lead generation and referrals! (see Part III)

Step #2 - Be "interested" instead of "interesting"! The truth is, "People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care!" Make certain your focus is on providing genuine value and service to others and you'll begin to attract new business with ease. Focus on being genuinely interested in others instead of concentrating on how to be interesting to others. Ask lots of questions, and really listen to hear how others are responding around you.

Step #3 - Under-promise, then Over-deliver -- not the other way around! Promise to give your clients 100% -- then deliver 110% all of the time. Do the unexpected. They'll love you for it! This step always requires your best efforts -- but if you're truly passionate about the business you're in, it there's no sacrifice involved!

By utilizing some ideas in this booklet, you'll attract more prospects and enjoy more profitability than ever before! Happy Marketing!
